I am a huge fan of the fall, especially with sunny and still warm weather, in the Netherlands, well you're not always lucky with the sunny weather there of course, but if it is still summer like weather in the end of august/september at a certain point, I could always feel the difference, I still don't know what it is, but from summer it had become fall. Less bright, more modest, the air is softer, a smell, a bit more chilly in morning but above all the light. Nothing so special of the (sun)light of fall, when the sun is a bit lower, and gives such beautiful shades through the trees, which still have leaves, that starting changing color.

One of my things to do, is coming to the US (where to start in meeting all my potty friends there :-)) is to see and experience the Indian summer (I think that is what you call it), hopefully next year.

You can't imagine how delighted and suprised I was yesterday also here experience something of the same fall feeling, I make at the moment every morning walk, first thing after getting out of bed a walk, around 8 in morning, the first 20 minutes have the fall feeling, but sooner after it is already hot again. Yesterday I made another one around 5 -6, and yes also the sunlight is a bit softer now here too.

But my greatest surprise was seeing in what I beautiful fall street I live in. It has trees with leaves and also these leaves start changing color. Of course it's still peanuts compared to to Groningen (or the famous Indian summer parts in US) Below I added some pictures of the green street I live in Amman. The pleasure of life are always in the small things.

I have to admit I am bit bored today so I am sharing some pictures with you of Amman and Groningen

the first one, of Groningen, the Martini Tower, of the Martini Church, the most famous church of the Northern Netherlands, it's a protestant church I guess from between 1600 and 1700. I do know it is build on the foundations of a Catholic church (which was demolished after the Northern Netherlands transferred from being Catholic to being Protestant). A huge difference between a catholic church and a protestant one, the catholic are (almost) always open for visitors, protestant one are not (only during a service)

the goodbye drink with my lovely neighbors: david and louise in our local pub (in the same street)

my house for sale

a butterfly on my table (in Groningen)

The villa in Amman where I am renting a ground floor apartment

Harma,

Lovely images, and I enjoyed your thoughts about fall. It's a glorious time of year. So far we are seeing no autumn color here, but just a little north it's already happening. And it is truly a delight. We get the best color when we have cool nights and plenty of moisture, which is exactly how things have been... so hopefully in a few weeks I'll have pictures to share, too.

Thanks for posting these images and thoughts,

Sara

Harma, thanks so much for sharing your photos. I am always very interested to see what other countries look like.. the architecture, the trees and plants. I was thinking of you the other day because we have a new family that has just moved to Creston from Palestine (actually they were sponsored and brought here by a group of women here who save up money and sponsor a refugee family every couple of years. They support them and pay all their expenses for the first year that they are in Canada.) Anyhow, I just met our new family and assessed their English language skills yesterday, and found out that the woman was born in Jordan. Her parents had left Palestine in the 60's because of the violence, and fled to Jordan where she was born. Hearing them that made me think of you :-)
