I don't know if there is a right or wrong answer to this. Should I start out broader with a GF only or would it be better to dive right in and start with GF/DF/SF...gluten, dairy, soy...right?

I have such memory problems that I kind of forgot what I read today...
Neutral

Is there a good food list for the stricter diet?

I'm reading but not retaining. Sorry if this is a silly question.

Thanks!

Keep it simple. Suggest go gluten free, dairy free first. Overcook any vegetables and keep them to a minimum. Protein is generally safe and it takes a lot of protein to heal from MC. The fewer the foods the better early on. Add foods down the road but don't worry about variety now. Avoid all raw foods, no salads etc.

to expand on brandys suggestion

soups and stews with animal protein and a few safe vegetables are your best option. well cooked, bland (ie no spices)
if you can make this on a base of home made bone broth then it will be gut healing awesomeness!

to have meal option that you can share with family - roasted meats (well cooked) meat pieces on the bone roasted, with a few veges roasted in the pan with the meat

avoid processed items (gluten free breads etc) for now....

lactaid milk - is still dairy and has caesin (caesin is more of an issue than lactose)
caffine - as coffee or tea, is individual. I have no issues with organic fresh ground coffee (black) some can not handle coffee same with teas be cautious of herbal teas and flavoured teas - the can have soy in them...
vegetables without skins is awesome
gatorade - too much sugar and colours etc... outways any of the nutritional value. you can make home made type drinks that dont have the nasties
bananas - small amount, not overripe
cooked apples - home made with no sugar would be ok in small amounts, the fruit sugar content if you have having banana's as well would be a bit high. Better to have cooked vegetables.

Wow! Gabes, you are AWESOME! You've answered my questions perfectly! Okay. I need to get to make my list, make my menu and get to the store. Goal to start: Next Monday! I do not drive so Hubby will have to help with the first week. Usually I can do the shopping with my walker and walk the 4 blocks but might need help carrying home that yummy protein.

Mushy veggies. Just like Mom used to make. Yucky but worth it.

take it a meal at a time, day at a time

a good motto for life with MC is 'Progress ... not perfection'

I would start with lunch and dinner options...
and once you have them sorted then figure out breakfast and snack options.

it will take a bit to transition and adjust and accept the changes, (and for family and friends to come along with the changes as well)

lots of good meal ideas and receipes etc located here:

Food Intolerances : Gluten, casein, soy, and avenin, (avenin is the prolamin in oats, which is equivalent to the gluten in wheat), beef, grapes, peanuts, cashews, almonds, (but nut butters seem OK except for peanuts), citric acid, chocolate, and agar.

Most of us who are sensitive to soy react to all soy products, including soy oil and soy lecithin (which can be found in many processed foods). Avoid soy oil in medications and supplements, also.

Thanks for the reply, Tex. I just noticed soybean oil in some GF frozen waffles I have.

The recipes are wonderful! Happy to see I have some meal ideas since I am of so little brain. No! Really I am!! All my pictures are on my IPAD and I don't know how to transfer them to my computer, where I am now. When I'm back on the tablet, I'll post my last brain MRI. It's.........different, to be sure. Shocked

Sandi, I had to smile at your comment about mushy vegetables. My father-in-law cooked broccoli until it was dead and then drenched it in butter. Now that's how I eat it (minus the butter). I was always a salad lover, ate a lot of raw vegetables. That's now my past life. Mushy broccoli is okay by me as long as my insides don't come out (my favorite saying when my husband asks me if I can eat something).

Cooked until dead. Yup. For all my childhood I thought I hated zucchini and other squashes until I started sautéing them. Well, I guess squash won't be on my list again. MUSH!
