Thanks for the link Erica.
Brandy, unfortunately I react to almonds. I didn’t know almond milk is a good source of calcium. Or did you mean it is fortified with calcium?

Food Intolerances : Gluten, casein, soy, and avenin, (avenin is the prolamin in oats, which is equivalent to the gluten in wheat), beef, grapes, peanuts, cashews, almonds, (but nut butters seem OK except for peanuts), citric acid, chocolate, and agar.

Henry,

I react to all nuts. In fact, peanuts cause my digestive symptom to stop (ileus). Another member (Gloria) also reacts to all nuts. We both can drink almond milk with no problems. Of course that doesn't mean that almond milk would be safe for you, but it might be. shrug

Thanks Tex, I will give it a try then. Should I go for the calcium fortified almond milk?

I also react strongly against peanuts. But what about peanut oil, is that unsafe too? I’m asking because here in China a lot of sunflower cooking oil is actually a mix that contains other oils. Like peanut oil and corn oil.

Henry, several of us are ok with peanut oil. The only reason that I know is that I get french fries that are cooked in peanut oil from a restaurant called Five Guys.

Yes, my almond milk if fortified with calcium. I don't take any calcium supplements. Almond milk is the only thing that I consume that has an ingredient list.

Henry,

I'm not sure how to weigh in on that question. Since I had that experience I've been taking the coward's way out — I have been simply avoiding everything that has anything to do with peanuts. Embarassed The "experts" claim it's safe for people with peanut allergies.

Thanks guys. I will play it on the safe side and try to avoid the peanut oil (and corn oil) as much as I can.
