Food Intolerances : Gluten, dairy, sugar, soy

I am a new forum member and since joining a few days ago I am obsessed with this site and all of the information provided!
I have Celiac disease, MC (LC) currently taking another round of budesonide for a flare, MTHFR (C677), pernicious anemia (b12 injections weekly) and I am pretty sure that I am suffering from histamine intolerance. I have no known allergies to seasonal items yet I am highly sensitive to bug sprays and other "chemicals" even perfumes. I follow a GF, EF, DF, Soy and Sugar free, no raw vegetables (except spinach) diet! I take general vit/min supplement, glutathione, folate, iodine and VSL #3 probiotic. I take an epson salts bath 2-3 times per week.

All of that said and after learning what I have about MC causes on this forum I am wondering if I should try a DAO supplement now or wait until I stop taking Busdesonide in a few months? Or if there is even any benefit from such supplement? If so, what brand and at what dosage?

Thank you in advance of your reply

Food Intolerances : Gluten, casein, soy, and avenin, (avenin is the prolamin in oats, which is equivalent to the gluten in wheat), beef, grapes, peanuts, cashews, almonds, (but nut butters seem OK except for peanuts), citric acid, chocolate, and agar.

To the best of my knowledge, only a few members here have tried a DAO supplement. Theoretically it should be helpful. But I don't recall anyone posting that they noticed any significant benefits after taking it. We don't have enough user experience information about it to be able to make any credible evaluations. Or maybe we're not using it correctly. At any rate, the jury is still out on using DAO supplements for MC.

Incidentally, your mention of a sensitivity to certain chemicals and fragrances suggests that you might possibly have a recently-described condition known as "TILT" (Toxin-Induced Loss of Tolerance). The next issue of the Microscopic Colitis Foundation Newsletter, due to be published on or about New Year's Day, will contain an article about it.

Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

hi there

there are two aspects to histamine...
firstly there is histamine inflammation reaction and then there is the bodies ability to clear the excess histamine.

I would do further research on histamine and histamine intolerance to understand which supplement may work best for you.

further to your MTHFR 677 status. I do not have either of the MTHFR gene SNPS (677 or 1298) but I do have MAJOR methylation issues. Methylation is way more than just MTHFR 677 and or 1298. we have a section of the forum for Methylation and relevant articles that you may like to read

a bit like MC, methylation issues are quite individual. what works for one, may not work so well for another.
if you have other issues in the methylation cycle, DAO may not be enough to resolve the histamine clearance issue.

I managed to reduce my histamine issues by resolving nutrient deficiencies - Vit C, Zinc, Magnesium for starters and then further with active forms of B6
and further when i started taking L-methionine. not everyone is the same... there is trial and error.
